Government Issues Nationwide Drought Situation Alerts and Warnings
The government announced drought alerts and warnings nationwide on the 14th, covering the period from this month through November. The cumulative precipitation nationwide over the past six months is 132.3% (1315.8 mm) of the average, indicating that meteorological drought conditions remain at normal levels across the country.
The average water storage rate of agricultural reservoirs nationwide is 81.0%, reaching 117.7% of the average (68.8%), and the storage rates by province compared to the average range from 106.7% (Gangwon) to 123.9% (Gyeongnam), maintaining above-average levels. The storage rates of 20 multipurpose dams and 14 water supply dams, which are major sources of domestic and industrial water, are at approximately 122% and 120% of the usual levels, respectively.
Currently, all dams are being managed under ‘normal’ conditions. The government plans to continuously monitor dam gate statuses and respond systematically and proactively according to the ‘Dam Water Supply Adjustment Standards’ if new drought stages are entered in the future.

Going forward, the government will conduct regular weekly inspections of drought conditions in cooperation with related ministries, announce drought alerts and warnings monthly, and continue to implement drought prevention measures.
