August Imported Cars, Second Consecutive Month of Year-on-Year Decline... Mercedes-Benz Regains No.1 After Three Months
Imported car sales in August continued to decline for the second consecutive month compared to the same period last year. By brand, Mercedes-Benz reclaimed the top spot after three months, followed by BMW in second place and Audi in third.
According to data from the Korea Imported Automobile Dealers Association (KAIDA) on the 5th, imported car sales in August this year totaled 23,350 units, down 2.1% from the same period last year. Although there was a slight increase compared to the previous month (21,138 units), sales declined year-on-year for the second consecutive month following July.
By brand, Mercedes-Benz ranked first with a market share of 28.2%. BMW closely followed in second place with 27%. Audi ranked third with a 6.6% market share, followed by Volkswagen at 6%, and Toyota at 4.6%.
The best-selling model was BMW's 5 Series, with 1,720 units sold. Next was Mercedes-Benz's E-Class with 1,384 units, followed by the Mercedes-Benz GLC with 1,164 units, the Mercedes-Benz GLE with 789 units, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with 751 units.
