Sim Sang-jung: "Dismissal of Lee Sang-min's Impeachment is the Constitutional Court Rejecting the State's Duty to Ensure Safety"
Lawmaker Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party criticized the Constitutional Court's dismissal on the 25th of the impeachment motion against Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, which was submitted by the National Assembly holding him responsible for the Itaewon incident, saying, "The Constitutional Court has dismissed the state's duty to ensure the safety of its citizens."
On the 25th, Sim said on her social media, "Minister Lee, who caused the deaths of 159 citizens due to dereliction of duty, has returned to his position, yet the Constitutional Court says it is difficult to see that it failed to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect the people. This is outrageous."

Sim raised her voice, saying, "This government's safety measures mean 'There is no state; everyone must fend for themselves.' The Itaewon disaster, the already predicted heavy rain disaster, the death of soldiers swept away by rapid currents without life jackets, and even citizens stabbed to death in broad daylight ? disasters and tragedies continue."

She then emphasized the need for the passage of a special law on the Itaewon disaster.
