It Becomes Possible to Check if a Foreigner Has Registered Residence in the New House Before Moving In
From now on, when purchasing or renting a house or setting a mortgage, it will be possible to check in advance whether there is a foreigner who has filed a prior move-in report.
The Ministry of Justice announced that starting from the 14th, it will implement the "Foreign Resident Confirmation Certificate Viewing and Issuance" system, which allows for prior identification of whether there is a foreigner with housing leasehold rights at a specific address.
Until now, even if a foreigner with senior priority rights had moved into a specific building, it was not possible to verify this, raising concerns about unexpected restrictions on exercising rights when purchasing or renting housing.
Now, by attaching documents that can prove the application requirements, such as a lease contract or sales contract, and applying at immigration and foreigner-related offices or town, township, and neighborhood offices, one can view the Foreign Resident Confirmation Certificate.
