The Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex completed land compensation earlier this year, recently finished installing the site office, and is preparing for construction.
Deputy Governor Yeom received a report on the progress and future plans at the site office, encouraged the officials, and toured the industrial complex construction site where logging and earthwork are in full swing.
Deputy Governor Yeom stated, "In the ongoing semiconductor industry downturn caused by the global economic recession and demand contraction, the success of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex and the National Advanced System Semiconductor Industrial Complex is a matter of national importance above all." He added, "Since safety is the top priority at the construction site, please pay special attention to safety management by pre-inspecting and addressing potential hazards on site to prevent damage from wind and flood disasters."
On the same day, Deputy Governor Yeom also visited the site of the National Advanced System Semiconductor Industrial Complex planned to cover 700㎡ (2.51 million pyeong) in Namsa and Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin.
This area is planned for the establishment of a national advanced industrial complex, where Samsung intends to invest 300 trillion won by 2042 to build five semiconductor fabs.
At the site, Deputy Governor Yeom promised that Gyeonggi Province would provide wholehearted support to ensure that SK Hynix and Samsung’s semiconductor fabs are completed on time and operate normally to become a driving force for national industrial development.
Gyeonggi Province is focusing not only on the creation of industrial complexes but also on securing designation in the semiconductor sector of the National Advanced Strategic Industry Specialized Complex led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
