Ko Jin-young Returns to 'Number 1' After 7 Months

Ko Jin-young has reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking.
On the 22nd (local time), Ko Jin-young received 8.26 points in the weekly women's golf world rankings, surpassing Nelly Korda (8.25 points, USA) by 0.01 points to become the new No. 1. This is the first time in seven months since late October last year that Ko Jin-young has held the world No. 1 spot. Although there were no LPGA Tour events last week, recent performances were reflected in the rankings.

She ranks first in scoring average (69.11) and CME Globe Race points (1367), second in earnings ($970,692), and second in Player of the Year points (75). Since first becoming world No. 1 in April 2019, Ko Jin-young has spent a total of 146 weeks at the top spot as of this week. She is second only to retired Lorena Ochoa (158 weeks, Mexico) for the longest duration as world No. 1.

Lydia Ko (New Zealand) is third, Lilia Vu (USA) is fourth, and Minjee Lee (Australia) is fifth. South Korea has Kim Hyo-joo at 10th, Jeon In-ji at 12th, Choi Hye-jin at 24th, and Park Min-ji at 27th. Sung Yu-jin, the winner of the KLPGA Tour Doosan Match Play Championship, rose 19 spots from 104th to 85th. Sung Yu-jin was ranked 135th in early April, climbed to 107th after finishing runner-up at the LPGA Tour Lotte Championship, and has now entered the top 100.
