Financial Supervisory Service Fully Publishes 'Financial Life Guidebook for Foreigners'
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 8th that it will fully revise and publish the "Financial Life Guidebook for Foreigners."
The guidebook contains recent changes in financial systems and how to use financial products in foreign languages. It also broadly includes practical financial information such as fintech remittances. Due to the rapidly changing financial environment and the increasing demand for essential financial information in daily life, including cases of foreigner-related financial fraud, it will be published simultaneously in eight languages.
The writing team was the Korea Financial Education Association, which was responsible for the Korean manuscript. Foreigners-only desk staff and multicultural school teachers were also included in the Korean manuscript review team. The completed Korean manuscript was translated and edited by a professional company, and then native speakers of each language reviewed it again. The chapters are broadly classified into bank usage, financial products, currency exchange and remittance, and financial fraud.
To provide timely information, the guidebook was updated to reflect changes in the financial environment, including financial systems, statistics, and cases. Through the "Follow the Transaction" section, step-by-step photos are presented to allow readers to try actual transactions, and related information on the topic is provided together. In particular, content on frequently used card products and useful insurance products was reinforced.
