A case in which a public elementary school teacher in Tokyo, Japan was arrested for committing obscene acts involving a third-grade female student's water bottle has resurfaced.

Investigations revealed that he had come to school on a day off, discovered the water bottle that the student had left in the classroom, and even filmed the act with his smartphone. During police questioning, Kojiro admitted the charges, stating, "I felt guilty, but my sexual arousal outweighed that emotion."
The police determined that his actions damaged the item and made its proper use impossible, and therefore rearrested him on charges of property damage.
Prior to the exposure of this crime, Kojiro had already been indicted for secretly filming under the same victim's skirt. The two cases were consolidated, and Kojiro was sentenced by the court to two years and four months in prison, suspended for four years.
Following this, Kojiro was dismissed by the education authorities, resulting in the loss of his job. In the Japanese education system, dismissal is the most severe disciplinary action, whereby the teaching license is revoked and no severance pay is granted.
The police believe it is highly likely that he committed similar acts with other students' water bottles or gym uniforms, and are focusing their investigation on uncovering additional offenses.
