View original imageU.S. President Donald Trump concluded his first visit to China in nine years and began his return journey on May 15 (local time). On this day, after having tea and a luncheon meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Zhongnanhai in Beijing, where President Xi’s official residence and office are located, he completed all the activities scheduled since his arrival on the 13th.
During the tea meeting, President Trump said, "This has been an amazing visit," adding, "We have achieved a fantastic trade agreement." He also stated, "We have reached fantastic trade deals, and it is great for both countries."
He referred to President Xi as "a person I respect greatly" and "a friend." He continued, "We have known each other for 11 years, almost 12 years," and said, "We have resolved many issues that others could not, and our relationship is strong."
Regarding the issue of Iran, President Trump said, "We are thinking very similarly about the Iran issue." He added, "We want the situation to end, and we do not want them to have nuclear weapons. We want the Strait to remain open."
Earlier, in a Fox News interview, President Trump shared that President Xi stated during their summit the previous day that China would not provide military equipment to Iran and expressed willingness to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
President Xi also evaluated that several agreements were reached during the summit and emphasized stabilizing bilateral relations and strengthening communication. According to China Central Television (CCTV), at Zhongnanhai, President Xi said, "Together, we have established a new status called the 'China-U.S. Constructive Strategic Stable Relationship.' We have achieved important agreements on stabilizing economic and trade relations, expanding practical cooperation in various fields, and properly handling mutual concerns. We also agreed to strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues."
He highlighted, "This visit is beneficial for enhancing mutual understanding, deepening mutual trust, and improving the well-being of both peoples," and emphasized, "It once again demonstrates that realizing peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation based on mutual respect, and following the right path of coexistence, is the wish of the peoples of both countries and the expectation of people around the world."

Meanwhile, during the summit the previous day, President Trump invited President Xi and his wife to the White House on September 24. If President Xi accepts the invitation, the two leaders will meet again at the White House in four months. They may also meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in November and the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in December.
