[Asia Economy Reporter Seohee Lee] The gap between the world No. 1 and No. 2 in women's golf, Ko Jin-young (27) and Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), has narrowed to 0.05 points.
According to the women's golf world rankings on the 24th, No. 1 Ko Jin-young's ranking points are 7.25, narrowing the gap to 0.05 points from No. 2 Thitikul's 7.20 points.
In last week's rankings, Ko Jin-young had 7.59 points and Thitikul 7.24 points, a difference of 0.35 points. Ko Jin-young has held the No. 1 position for nine consecutive months since the end of January this year.
Earlier, Ko Jin-young withdrew during the LPGA Tour BMW Championship held in Wonju, Gangwon Province last week. On the other hand, Thitikul closed the gap by finishing 6th in this tournament. Recently, the performances of the two players have been contrasting. While Ko Jin-young has struggled with a wrist injury, Thitikul has been active, finishing within the top 10 in all five tournaments, including one victory.
Lydia Ko (New Zealand), who won the BMW Championship, rose two places to 3rd, and Jeon In-ji (28) and Kim Hyo-joo (27) ranked 8th and 9th respectively.
