On the 4th, at the Pinx Golf Club in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island (Par 71, 7,326 yards), during the third day of the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) SK Telecom Open (total prize money 1.3 billion KRW), he shot 4 under par to quickly rise to a tie for first place (11 under par, 202 strokes). Maeng Dong-seop (35) is tied for first, Kang Yoon-seok (36) is one stroke behind in third place (10 under par, 203 strokes), and Kim Jae-ho (40) and Lee Sang-yeop (28) are tied for fourth place, two strokes behind (9 under par, 204 strokes). The '21-year-old young gun' Kim Min-gyu is chasing from a tie for sixth place (8 under par, 205 strokes).
Kim Bi-o is leading the prize money ranking (300 million KRW) and is ninth in the points ranking (1,200 points), boosted by his victory at last month's Maekyung Open. Interestingly, he was heavily penalized after causing a scandal with a 'finger gesture' during the Daegu Gyeongbuk Open in September 2019. He made a spectacular comeback by winning the Maekyung Open following the LG Signature Players Championship last November. He bowed his head and said, "I will repay the fans with a more mature appearance."
