Polestar Unveils Showroom in Jeju, Leading Region in Electric Vehicle Adoption
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] High-performance electric vehicle brand Polestar opened a new showroom in Jeju on the 22nd. The showroom, called 'Destination Jeju,' is located on Yeonsam-ro, where imported car showrooms are concentrated in Jeju Island. This brand has opened its fourth showroom following Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Busan. As of the end of last year, Jeju had 25,571 registered electric vehicles, ranking first in adoption rate among domestic local governments.
The showroom consists of a 280.5㎡ first-floor exhibition space and a 157㎡ underground first-floor handover box where customers receive their vehicles. Polestar stated that the showroom was designed as an exhibition space that can create synergy with the 100% online purchase process. For customers unfamiliar with the digital environment or those who want explanations about the vehicles, experts within the showroom assist with vehicle explanations, online ordering methods, and test drive applications.
At the opening ceremony, Polestar Korea CEO Ham Jong-seong and Ivy Auto CEO Kang Byung-chul, the showroom operator, attended and performed a seatbelt removal ceremony. The event reflected their commitment to reducing even the waste generated from ribbon-cutting ceremonies. CEO Ham said, "Jeju is a clean city that aligns well with Polestar's philosophy of minimizing environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future," adding, "We will convey the experience and values Polestar pursues throughout the process of delivering products to customers through this new concept exhibition space."
