Professor Kim Pil-su of the Department of Automotive Engineering at Daelim University said this on the 26th at the '2022 Korea Green Mobility Awards' held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
Professor Kim evaluated that the automotive industry's ecosystem is changing rapidly. He said, "The biggest change seen at CES 2022 was that boundaries have collapsed," adding, "Automobile companies exhibited robots, and IT and home appliance companies unveiled cars." He further explained, "The automotive sector is a representative area where boundaries are breaking down, and it is now described in various terms such as 'moving living spaces.'"
Given the rapidly changing automotive market, he emphasized the need to internally adapt to these changes. He said, "The paradigm shift is happening too quickly," and "Some repair shops that have not adapted to this situation are unable to service hybrid vehicles." He added, "It has become important to facilitate a smooth transition to help them adapt."

However, he explained that this change could be a great opportunity for our automotive industry. He emphasized, "Automakers that were once called premium brands are now finding it difficult to maintain their positions due to the emergence of electric vehicles like Tesla," and "Since Korea is a country that adapts well to paradigm shifts, this is an opportunity to enter the leading group."
