Tourism Organization Holds Briefing Session on Public Contest Projects for Local Governments, Tourism Industry, and Tourism Ventures
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that it will hold a business plan briefing session on the 27th to share this year's public offering projects and collaborative projects with local governments, regional tourism organizations, the tourism industry, and tourism venture companies.
This year, the Tourism Organization has set its main business directions as leading digital innovation in the tourism industry based on platforms and big data, strengthening the competitiveness of the tourism industry through supporting innovative growth in the tourism sector, enhancing national happiness through travel and revitalizing the local economy, and proactive marketing to capture overseas travel demand. The Tourism Organization is promoting this briefing session to efficiently implement these projects based on collaboration with external customers such as local governments and the tourism industry.
The briefing will focus on introducing 29 public offering projects and 28 major collaborative projects. Among the public offering projects are the barrier-free tourism city, selected for the first time this year, and smart tourism cities that combine technology and tourism. Collaborative projects include the ‘Smart Consulting Collaboration Plus with Big Data’ project, which leverages strengths in the digital sector while encouraging collaboration between local governments and tourism venture companies; the ‘Journey Planner’ project, which provides personalized itinerary services created through the participation of regional tourism organizations and travel agencies; and the ‘Regional Revitalization Project,’ which addresses the issue of local extinction through regional tourism activation.
Tourism Organization President Youngbae Ahn stated, “Starting with this briefing session, we plan to hold separate briefings for about 20 individual projects during the first quarter,” adding, “We will prepare so that local governments, the tourism industry, and other customers can collaborate with the Tourism Organization comfortably and easily from their perspective.”
