Naver Series Web Novel 'Hwasan Gwihwan' Surpasses 10 Billion KRW in Cumulative Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 8th that the cumulative sales of the web novel "Hwasan Gwihwan," serialized on Naver Series, have surpassed 10 billion KRW.
The martial arts web novel Hwasan Gwihwan tells the story of "Cheongmyeong," who was reincarnated from a legendary martial artist into a child, struggling to revive his ruined sect, the "Hwasanpa."
It was first exclusively launched on Naver Series in April 2019, and currently, about 980 episodes have been serialized. It has ranked first in real-time, daily, weekly, and monthly rankings on Naver Series and has surpassed a total cumulative download count of 135 million views, making it a popular work.
In March, a webtoon of the same name based on Hwasan Gwihwan began serialization on Naver Webtoon, which significantly boosted the original web novel's sales. The average monthly sales of the web novel increased by approximately 300% compared to before the webtoon serialization. This appears to be due to the rising popularity of the webtoon, which led more users to seek out the original web novel.
The webtoon Hwasan Gwihwan is globally serviced in six languages, including Korean, English, Indonesian, Thai, Taiwanese, and Chinese, and is expected to generate even greater sales synergy in the future.
