Lee Jae-myung: "I Will Definitely Fulfill 'Noh Hoe-chan's Dream'"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, marked the 3rd anniversary of the late Roh Hoe-chan, leader of the Justice Party, saying, "The place left behind is greater than the place taken," and added, "I will strive to resemble him more."
On the 23rd, Lee posted a photo of Roh Hoe-chan during his lifetime on Facebook and recalled, "It has already been 3 years. The summer when Leader Roh Hoe-chan passed away was also very hot," and "I remember the mourners at the National Assembly funeral wiping away tears and snot along with the sweat that was pouring down."
He continued, "The place left behind is greater than the place taken. Absence undoubtedly proves existence more profoundly," and added, "Looking back on when our politics recently made the people feel pleasant, it is hard to find such a time. I also miss the way he used clear metaphors to organize current issues whenever times were frustrating."
In particular, he said, "I always envied Leader Roh, who loved the world much more than I do and was angered by the sorrows of ordinary people," and praised him highly, saying, "However, 'Roh Hoe-chan's politics' always had laughter and warmth, and he was always an object of admiration for me, who was clumsy and reckless."
Furthermore, he said, "(Leader Roh Hoe-chan) never once tried to teach the people, and often said that just as a farmer does not blame the field, one should never fight with the public," adding, "That humble attitude toward the sovereign was probably the source of his gentle humor and tolerance."
Lee said, "(Today is) a day to miss the leader while looking at a photo of his innocent expression," and promised, "I will surely realize Roh Hoe-chan's dream. I will make a world where all working people are respected, politics for the 'invisible people,' and a country where every citizen can play at least one musical instrument."
