Korea Tourism Organization Hosts 2-Week 'Eco-Friendly Running Challenge'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced that it will hold the ‘Eco-friendly Running Challenge Across Korea’ for two weeks from the 19th to August 1st to promote the spread of eco-friendly travel culture.
This event was prepared to encourage the public to engage in eco-friendly and contactless travel by organizing a challenge that practices ‘plogging’?picking up trash while jogging?and ‘low-carbon travel.’ It is part of the eco-friendly travel campaign ‘Uncomfortable Travel Methods’ launched by the organization in May.
To participate, you must download the running/walking app ‘RunDay’ on your smartphone. By accessing the ‘Challenge’ menu in the app, you will find two missions: Running Across Korea and Plogging Across Korea. You can choose either one or both. Completing the Running Across Korea mission requires accumulating 10 km over two weeks, and the Plogging Across Korea mission requires accumulating one hour of running over two weeks. All participants who complete the challenge by August 1st will receive an online certificate of completion, a commemorative badge, and a certification sticker.
Additionally, there is an ‘Uncomfortable Travel Methods’ challenge event. By posting photos of plogging or running on your personal Instagram with the hashtags '#불편한여행법, #대한민국구석구석, #지구쓰담' and tagging the organization’s ‘대한민국 구석구석’ account, you will be automatically entered into the ‘#UncomfortableTravelMethods Challenge’ event, where you can propose your own uncomfortable travel methods on social media (SNS). Through a draw, 270 winners will receive various prizes such as upcycled bags, travel kits, and beverage vouchers.
