"Please Clear the Unfairness Surrounding My Son Who Ended His Life Due to School Violence"
High School Student Who Committed Extreme Suicide's Father Files 'Blue House National Petition'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The father of a high school student who is presumed to have made an extreme choice after enduring school violence posted a message on the Blue House National Petition asking for help to create a world without school violence.
On the 5th, a post titled "Please help to address the injustice of my son who ended his life due to school violence, punish the perpetrators, and bring about a world without school violence" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition site.
The writer, who identified himself as the father of A, the student who made the extreme choice, said, "On Tuesday, the 29th of last month, my son, who said he was going to school waving his hand with a bright smile, did not go to school but went to a nearby mountain and ended his own life," adding, "While holding the funeral, I received a video showing my son being assaulted in the classroom and learned the reason."
He continued, "My son always cheerfully said he was welcomed on my way home from work every day and that he was getting along well with his friends at school," and added, "Thinking that he endured such great pain alone breaks my heart as a father."
He further stated, "Please stand by us so that the students who committed school violence can be severely punished and so that we can continue to fight without giving up," and added, "Please help us until the end to clear my son's injustice and bring about a world without school violence."
The petition will run until the 4th of next month, and over 54,000 people have agreed within two days.
Meanwhile, around 11 a.m. on the 29th of last month, A, a second-year high school student, was found dead near Eodeungsan Mountain in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
In the suicide note left by A, he wrote, "I was struggling with school violence, but thanks to you (friends), I was able to endure," listing the names of his friends one by one and expressing gratitude.
A video revealed through another channel reportedly shows the school violence A suffered in full.
The police are currently investigating after confirming signs of group school violence.
