Dongmyeong University Offers Free Basic Computer Education for Seniors ... Jointly Implemented by SW-Centered University Project Group and Namgu Senior Welfare Center
SW Department 3rd-4th Year Students Excel as 1:1 Student Mentors
Middle-aged and older students are learning in a free computer education program jointly held by Dongmyung University SW-Centered University Project Group and Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) SW-Centered University Project Group will jointly conduct free basic computer skills enhancement education for 50+ (middle-aged and older adults) with Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center from May 11 to June 11.
This basic computer skills enhancement education for seniors will be conducted by dividing the class into two groups considering the COVID-19 situation.
Each group consists of 1 instructor, 5 individual student assistants, and 5 seniors. Classes are held twice a week (each 90 minutes), 3 hours per session, for 5 weeks.
One-on-one student assistants are mainly 3rd and 4th-year students from Dongmyung University SW-Centered University participating SW departments (AI Department, Computer Engineering Department, Game Engineering Department, Software Convergence Security Department), with 37 major students volunteering as instructors to improve educational efficiency.
Jo Mi-kyung, head of Dongmyung University SW-Centered University Project Group, said, “We plan to satisfy seniors’ desire to participate in the information society through internet and information utilization, and further enhance their ability to use services such as leisure, finance, and health management through computer and internet education.”
Jo also said, “It will be an alternative to alleviate social isolation in old age by connecting people with similar interests.”
