Kia to Equip Domestic Tires on Some Electric Vehicle EV6 Models
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Kia announced on the 29th that it will equip some models of its first dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6, with domestically produced tires.
Kia selected four tire suppliers for the EV6: Michelin (21-inch), Continental (20-inch), and domestic tire companies Nexen Tire (19-inch) and Kumho Tire (19-inch). The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which shares the same platform as the EV6, is equipped only with Michelin tires.
Kia plans to launch the Standard, Long Range, and GT-Line models of the EV6 in the second half of this year, and the high-performance GT model in the second half of next year.

The EV6, which began pre-orders on the 31st of last month, recorded 21,016 reservations on the first day, marking a successful launch.
