Science Creativity Foundation Accepting Applications from April 26 to May 6
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity will hold a contest for the ‘2021 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Program Development’ project from the 26th of this month to the 6th of next month.
Applications can be submitted through the online application system. This project has been operated since 2012 to develop and distribute various STEAM programs that help students feel interest and enjoyment in science and technology, cultivate creative and convergent thinking, and enhance real-life problem-solving skills.
The STEAM programs developed in connection with the 2015 revised curriculum are publicly available on the foundation’s STEAM platform for free distribution to activate STEAM education within school curricula and improve convenience in designing STEAM classes.
This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and build an educational environment utilizing edutech, a contest will be held for programs in seven fields, including online-centered STEAM programs usable in real-time interactive non-face-to-face classes, supporting a total of 1.3 billion KRW for 13 projects.
The contest fields include early childhood and elementary linkage type, arts and physical education activity type, online-based learning type, student-led participation type, advanced technology and ICT teaching aids utilization type, high school credit system-based learning type, and education inclusion type for marginalized groups. Among these, participants select one field to develop a total of five types of STEAM programs with more than 20 sessions, including teaching and learning guides, student textbooks, teacher PPTs, and media content (videos).
The target applicants are universities, research institutes, organizations, and corporations with accumulated research and development and activity experience related to STEAM education, science, mathematics, engineering, technology, arts, humanities, social sciences, and early childhood education.
The evaluation criteria include excellence of the research execution plan, suitability of the execution system, methods and promotion strategies, and appropriateness of the utilization plan and expected outcomes of the research results. Selected programs will be announced on the foundation’s website around mid-May.
