Appointment of Three New Members to the Electricity Commission, Including Hong Hyeran
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 11th that it has appointed three new non-standing members to the Electricity Committee, including Hong Hyeran, Secretary General of the Energy Citizens' Solidarity.
The experts from consumer, legal, and electricity-related organizations have a term of three years.
New member Hong is a consumer expert who has served as Secretary General of the Energy Citizens' Solidarity and a government member of the Central Environmental Dispute Mediation Committee. Member Kang Jeonghye is a professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology Law School and has served as a government member of the Legal Interpretation Deliberation Committee. Member Jeong Donghee is the Chairman of the Korea Power Exchange.

The Electricity Committee deliberates on matters related to the protection of electricity users' rights and handles the adjudication of disputes related to the electricity business. Members are appointed by the President upon recommendation by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the committee consists of nine members in total, including the chairman, the standing member from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Director General of the Energy Resources Office), and seven non-standing members.
