Mercedes-Benz "Major Model Car Insurance Ratings Increase by Up to 2 Levels"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 4th that the vehicle model ratings of major popular models such as the S-Class, C-Class, GLC, and CLS have increased by up to 2 levels in the vehicle model rating evaluation conducted by the Korea Insurance Development Institute.
The vehicle model rating evaluation by the Korea Insurance Development Institute is a system that annually assigns insurance premium grades based on the extent of damage and ease of repair in collision accidents and loss ratios for each vehicle model, rated from grade 1 to a maximum of grade 26. An increase of one grade results in a reduction of automobile insurance premiums by approximately 5% to 10%.
According to the 2021 vehicle model rating evaluation results, based on currently sold vehicles, the S-Class and C-Class were upgraded by 2 levels compared to the previous year to grades 17 and 10 respectively, and the CLS was upgraded by 1 level to grade 11. In particular, the GLC was rated grade 17, an increase of 1 level, continuing its record of rising ratings for five consecutive years since its first domestic launch in 2016.
