Large Taxi 'Kakao T Venti' Launches in Bucheon, Gyeonggi... Expanding to 10,000 Units Within the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao Mobility has launched the large van taxi 'Kakao T Venti' in Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 18th, Kakao Mobility announced, "Following Seoul, the 'Kakao T Venti' service will start in Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province from today." Kakao Mobility plans to expand Kakao T Venti to 10,000 vehicles nationwide within this year.
According to Kakao Mobility, Kakao T Venti offers a spacious and comfortable interior for 9 to 11 passengers, an automatic dispatch system regardless of destination, and drivers who have completed separate service training, providing differentiated services that have received positive responses from users.
As of last month, the number of users calling the service grew by 2747% compared to the same month last year, and the number of calls increased by 3544%.
With increased participation from taxi drivers, about 500 Kakao T Venti vehicles are operating in Seoul as of January. The average daily number of completed trips per vehicle in operation also increased by 338% compared to the same period last year.
Kakao Mobility plans to make this year the first year of Kakao T Venti's growth, starting with the launch of the service in Bucheon City, aiming to expand to 10,000 vehicles within the year.
To further expand new mobility experiences, various attempts will continue, including professional vehicle disinfection to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and customized in-vehicle content using the AI speaker 'Kakao Mini Hexa.'

Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, stated, "This proves that even within the current regulatory framework, if platform companies and the taxi industry have a certain degree of autonomy and try various approaches, it is possible to realize both services tailored to user expectations and improved operating conditions for taxi drivers." He added, "We will continue to carry out various attempts and experiments to create a valuable mobility ecosystem."
