Kakao AI Technology Applied to KIPO's 'Similar Patent Search Service'
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao Enterprise is advancing patent work using artificial intelligence (AI) technology in collaboration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).
Kakao Enterprise announced on the 7th that it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KIPO on the 8th to apply AI technology to the "similar patent search service."
KIPO conducts various document comparison and analysis tasks during patent examination. At this time, it utilizes the "similar patent search service" to find documents similar to the patent examination target documents.
By applying Kakao Enterprise's AI technology to this service, even if exact keyword matching is not achieved, it can comprehensively analyze core keyword information within documents and similarity between documents to provide search results of similar documents.
According to Kakao Enterprise, it is also possible to perform comparative analysis of foreign languages besides Korean, making it easier to compare overseas patent documents.
Kakao Enterprise plans to provide other AI technologies in addition to translation and similar search technologies in the future. According to Kakao Enterprise, it is also possible to further advance AI technology based on KIPO's high-quality patent big data and know-how.
Kim Byung-hak, Senior Vice President of Kakao Enterprise, said, "It is of great significance to apply AI technology to the patent field in Korea and contribute to innovation in public services," adding, "We will create a successful public-private cooperation case through continuous collaboration with KIPO."
