Main Color 'Phantom Violet' Draws Attention
Galaxy S21 Camera and Buds Pro Sound Quality Highlighted
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] A video presumed to be the January Unpacked invitation from Samsung Electronics, unveiling the Galaxy S21, has been leaked. The teaser video was released even before Samsung officially sent out the invitations. It is expected to closely align with industry forecasts that the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Buds Pro will be unveiled.
On the 30th (local time), IT tipster Ishan Agarwal tweeted a teaser video presumed to be the Unpacked invitation, stating, "The next Galaxy will be unveiled on January 14," and added, "It can be watched live from 3 PM GMT on Samsung's official website."
The released Unpacked teaser video is themed in Phantom Violet, symbolizing the Galaxy S21. On the left, inside a rectangular frame, a man surfing in the sea appears; as the distant sea comes closer, the surfer approaches and is captured in a photo. This is presumed to emphasize the zoom and camera features of the Galaxy S21.
On the right, circles floating in the air gather to create dynamic waves, interpreted as signifying the simultaneous unveiling of the new wireless earphones, Galaxy Buds Pro, which feature improved sound quality.
Although Samsung Electronics has not sent out the Unpacked invitations, the industry has already accepted January 14 as the date for next year's Unpacked event and January 29 as the Galaxy S21 release date. If Ishan Agarwal's claim is true, the Unpacked event will begin at midnight on the 15th Korean time.
The Galaxy S21 series will be released in three models. The 6.2-inch Galaxy S21, the 6.7-inch Galaxy S21 Plus, and the 6.8-inch Galaxy S21 Ultra. The prices for each model are expected to be $899 (approximately 990,000 KRW), $1,099 (about 1,200,000 KRW), and $1,349 (about 1,420,000 KRW), respectively. This means they will be launched at least 150,000 KRW cheaper than their predecessors.
The Ultra model, which boasts the highest specifications, will support the S Pen for the first time in the Galaxy S series and feature a quad-camera setup including a 108-megapixel lens. It includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, two telephoto cameras (10x optical zoom, 10 megapixels each), and a laser autofocus (AF) sensor. The Galaxy S21 and Plus models will be equipped with a 64-megapixel telephoto camera and 12-megapixel main and ultra-wide cameras. The domestic models will come with the Exynos 2100 chipset, while overseas versions will feature the Snapdragon 888 chipset. The Ultra model supports 12GB of RAM, while the other two models support 8GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Buds Pro are in-ear type wireless earphones equipped with active noise canceling (ANC) functionality. They will be released with pebble-shaped earbuds and a rounded rectangular case design. They feature dual drivers with an 11mm woofer and a 6.5mm tweeter, similar to the Galaxy Buds+, and each earbud is equipped with three microphones. They offer improved ambient sound mode, conversation mode, adjustable ANC levels, and 3D spatial audio functionality compared to their predecessor. Conversation mode captures and delivers the speaker's voice during conversations while lowering the volume of the music being played. 3D spatial audio detects the user's head position and movement to deliver sound from all directions more vividly and immersively. The water resistance rating has been improved from IPX2 to IPX7, allowing them to withstand submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for about 30 minutes.
