Galaxy Z Flip3, Will It Come with LTE and Snapdragon 865?
Z Flip3 Model Name 'SM-F720F' Spotted
Possibility of Launch with Significantly Lower Price
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] It is anticipated that the Galaxy Z Flip3 will be released as an LTE model with downgraded specifications to a near mid-range flagship level.
On the 28th (local time), Dutch IT media GalaxyClub revealed that the model number 'SM-F720F' of the Galaxy Z Flip3 is an LTE-only device. Samsung Electronics has traditionally appended 'F' to LTE models and 'B' to 5G models to distinguish them. Qualcomm's high-end system on chip for LTE devices was the Snapdragon 855+, which was also equipped in the Galaxy Z Flip. This is why there is speculation that the specifications of the LTE-only model may not see significant improvements.
If the Galaxy Z Flip3 is released as an LTE smartphone, there is also a possibility that it will combine the Snapdragon 865 with an LTE modem. Even if it is equipped with the Exynos 990, it may remain at the same level as the Galaxy S20 FE. The 5G model of the Galaxy Z Flip3 is expected to be released under the model number SM-F721B. Since the LTE model release is analyzed based on existing release patterns, there is a possibility that it may not align with actual release information. This also conflicts with forecasts that Samsung Electronics will release all foldable smartphone lineups as 5G next year.
However, if an LTE foldable phone is additionally released instead of 5G, there is a possibility that the price will be significantly lower. Since foldable smartphones have never been released below the mid-1 million KRW price range, lowering the specifications could lead to a model with greatly improved price accessibility. The Galaxy Z Flip3 is scheduled for release in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, there is also speculation that a low-cost foldable phone will be released as part of the 'Z Flip' series. Ross Young, founder and CEO of Display Chain Consulting (DSCC), analyzed that a 'Galaxy Z Flip Lite' will be released. He explained, "The low-cost Galaxy Z Flip Lite and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be released with a 6.7-inch display, which is 0.03 inches larger than the previous model (6.67 inches)," and added, "The Z Flip series supports a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO."
