Halla Group Provides COVID-19 Relief Living Stability Scholarships to Halla University
[Asia Economy Reporter Woo Su-yeon] Halla Group announced on the 29th that it will provide 300 million KRW in living stability scholarships to 580 students currently enrolled at Halla University who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The 'Living Stability Scholarship' is a living expense support scholarship directly given to the families (guardians, etc.) of enrolled students. Halla University organized this scholarship to provide practical assistance to students' household finances. Depending on household income levels, support of up to 1 million KRW per student is provided, with approximately 17% of the entire Halla University student body eligible for the benefit.
Kim Eung-kwon, President of Halla University, stated, "Additional support beyond tuition is urgently needed for students facing economic hardships due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "We sincerely thank Halla Group for their warm-hearted assistance."
Meanwhile, Halla University is leading efforts to overcome COVID-19 in cooperation with local small and medium-sized businesses by, among other measures, reducing rent by 50% for on-campus welfare stores in the second semester, following similar support in the first semester.
