Innovative Ideas Meet ICT Technology... Contest Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it will hold an idea contest starting from the 22nd to discover innovative ICT products and services. Selected ideas will be supported to lead to actual technology development and commercialization.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 21st, this contest targets three areas: ▲improving convenience in daily life such as housing, mobility, and education ▲public safety including natural disaster prevention ▲and production efficiency. Anyone residing in Korea, whether an individual or an organization (corporation), can freely participate without restrictions.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to select a total of 10 outstanding ideas through evaluations by experts working in industry, academia, and research, combined with a public preference survey. Awards include one Grand Prize, one Gold Prize, one Silver Prize, two Bronze Prizes, and five Encouragement Prizes. The Grand Prize winner will receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award and a cash prize of 2 million KRW, while winners from the Gold Prize to Encouragement Prize will receive the President of the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation Award along with cash prizes.
Applications will be accepted for one month from the 22nd until January 20 of next year. Submission is possible through the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation’s project management system (ezone.iitp.kr). Lee Seungwon, Director of Information and Communication Industry Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “To realize the Digital New Deal, it is important to create an environment where creative ideas can be discovered and supported through market- and demand-centered research and development, leading to the creation of innovative ICT products and services.” He added, “We hope that this contest will discover many fresh and creative ideas that can enhance convenience in daily life and public safety, and revitalize the stagnant industrial field.”
