[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system jointly developed by LG Electronics and Jaguar Land Rover has been selected as the best connected technology by Autobest, a European non-profit automotive evaluation organization.
On the 25th, LG Electronics announced that the infotainment system installed in Jaguar Land Rover vehicles was chosen as this year's smart product "SMARTBEST" by Autobest. This system is installed in Jaguar (F-PACE, E-PACE, I-PACE, XF, XE), Land Rover (Discovery, Discovery Sport, Defender), and Range Rover (Velar, Evoque) models.
The judging panel evaluated that unlike existing systems that supported only one connection task at a time, this system uses a dual modem method that simultaneously connects two different communications, providing excellent connectivity. For example, drivers can wirelessly update vehicle software while simultaneously using music streaming or navigation.
Additionally, the intuitive user interface (UI), which allows about 90% of the supported functions to be executed within two touches, received high praise. Drivers can easily use desired functions while focusing on driving. Notably, it is also possible to connect two smartphones held by the driver and passenger simultaneously to the vehicle via Bluetooth.
Jin-yong Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics' VS Business Division, said, "We are pleased to be recognized as a trend-leading product in the industry," adding, "We will continue to strengthen advanced cooperation in technology and design to realize customer value."
