View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun on the 17th instructed, regarding the announcement of the verification results by the Gimhae New Airport Verification Committee under the Prime Minister's Office, to "carefully prepare plans for follow-up measures to ensure that there are no setbacks in the promotion of the Southeast Region New Airport."
The Prime Minister's Office stated that Prime Minister Chung gave this instruction to the relevant ministries during a meeting of related ministers held to discuss follow-up measures after receiving the verification result report from the Verification Committee in the afternoon.
The meeting of related ministers was attended by Kim Hyun-mi, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the main ministry in charge; Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; Koo Yun-cheol, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination; and Kim Young-hoon, Director of the Natural Environment Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Environment.

Since the Verification Committee concluded on the same day that the Gimhae New Airport plan "needs to be fundamentally reviewed," which can be regarded as a de facto cancellation, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is expected to organize the government's position and prepare specific follow-up measures going forward.
