From the 18th, Truck Rest Areas and Local Roads Also Allowed
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 17th that a partial amendment to the "Enforcement Rules of the Freight Motor Vehicle Transport Business Act," aimed at rationally improving facility installation standards and target areas to revitalize the installation and operation of freight vehicle rest areas, will be implemented.
According to the amendment, which will take effect from the 18th, the types of facilities that can be installed at freight vehicle rest areas have been expanded to introduce various service functions for driver convenience.
Previously, in addition to essential facilities such as parking lots, lounges, and repair shops, the optional facilities that could be additionally installed were limited to six types, including freight forwarding offices and car washers.
Through this amendment, it is now possible to install any type of facility within 40% of the total facility area of the freight vehicle rest area without restrictions on facility types.
However, since these are installed as urban and county planning facilities, facilities restricted under urban and county planning facility regulations, such as housing, religious and entertainment facilities, and factories, cannot be installed.
The target areas where freight vehicle rest areas can be installed have also been expanded from highways and national roads to include provincial roads and nationally supported provincial roads.
