On the same day, Prime Minister Chung said on his Facebook, "COVID-19 is threatening the lives of people worldwide."
He added, "We will assist the international community in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis with the exemplary experience and wisdom of Korea's 'K-Quarantine,'" and "The Republic of Korea will extend its hand to the world for the 'freedom and peace' that the UN aspires to."
Referring to the past participation of UN forces in the Korean War, Prime Minister Chung expressed gratitude, saying, "When the Republic of Korea was in a perilous situation like a candle in the wind during the Korean War, about 1.95 million UN troops participated in the war."
He continued, "We bled and risked our lives together to protect peace and freedom on this land. Our people never forget the gratitude owed to the UN," and "Now, the Republic of Korea is willingly participating in creating world peace under the name of UN peacekeeping forces."
