Due to the Impact of COVID-19... '2021 Seoul Motor Show' Postponed from April to July
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Motor Show Organizing Committee will hold the '2021 Seoul Motor Show' at KINTEX from July 1 to 11 next year. The schedule, traditionally held every April, has been postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Seoul Motor Show Organizing Committee, composed of the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, Korea Imported Automobile Association, and Korea Automobile Industry Cooperative, announced on the 15th that it will begin the first round of participant recruitment from that day until December 31, along with the call for participants.
The committee explained that the schedule change for the Seoul Motor Show, which has been held every early April, was made considering the recent COVID-19 situation. The committee added, "Given the nature of the motor show, which attracts a large number of visitors, we reviewed the schedule to ensure visitor safety and to ease the burden on the automobile industry due to the economic downturn, aiming for a reasonable timeframe. We also considered the timing of major overseas motor shows." Notably, the Seoul Motor Show will be the first motor show held domestically in two years, as the '2020 Busan Motor Show' scheduled for May this year was also canceled due to COVID-19.
Following last year, the Seoul Motor Show will organize themed pavilions under the keyword 'Sustainable, Connected, Mobility,' hosting a comprehensive exhibition covering the future mobility ecosystem including autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and intelligent transportation systems, presenting a future vision based on advanced technology.
To this end, the committee will establish the 'Mobility Innovation Award,' an improved version of the existing new technology presentation, to discover innovative mobility companies domestically and internationally and to award outstanding technologies.
Additionally, a special exhibition will be prepared to utilize this motor show not only as a simple exhibition and viewing event but also as a practical sales promotion venue. During the exhibition period, visitors to the venue will be able to compare various brands' models and receive special benefits through a special discount promotion tentatively named 'Motor Sale Festa,' supporting the marketing activities of participating companies.
Furthermore, programs allowing visitors to test drive and experience autonomous vehicles, eco-friendly vehicles such as electric and hydrogen cars, and personal mobility devices will be significantly enhanced, providing a space where visitors can directly experience future mobility technologies.
