On the morning of the 14th, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Lee said, "Our party has decided to establish The Innovation Committee as a standing special committee to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era," adding, "Kim Jong-min, a Supreme Council member, will serve as the committee chairman."
Lee emphasized, "In 2015, under Moon Jae-in's leadership, the Innovation Committee transformed the party torn by factional conflicts through personnel reform and nomination revolution. In 2018, under Lee Hae-chan's leadership, the Innovation Committee built a system and platform party that led to election victories. Now, the Democratic Party must be reborn as a smart party suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a responsible party that carries out necessary tasks without fail, and a competent party that achieves results in all matters."
He continued, "Our party has grown in size by winning consecutively in the 2017 presidential election, the 2018 local elections, and the general election in April this year, and public expectations have grown accordingly," adding, "The committee is expected to take infinite responsibility for the future, innovate the Democratic Party on its own, and evolve it into a future-oriented, smart 100-year party. I hope the committee will lay the foundation to strengthen and energize the capabilities, unity, and network of party members."
Regarding the National Crisis Overcoming K-New Deal Committee, which was launched as an integrated body the day before, he said, "We have newly added the Regional Balanced Development New Deal Headquarters," and added, "From now on, policies should be designed and executed by region with speed." He also said, "Through the National Crisis Overcoming K-New Deal Committee, the party will quickly establish legal and institutional support systems such as collaboration between central and local governments and concretization of incentives."
