Soprano Park Hyesang DG Debut Album + Lotte Concert Hall Solo Recital
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Soprano Park Hyesang (photo) is releasing her debut album under the world-renowned classical label Deutsche Grammophon (DG) and will also hold a solo recital to commemorate the album release.
Park Hyesang signed an exclusive contract with DG last May. Her debut album is scheduled to be simultaneously released worldwide next month. The solo recital will be held on the 20th of next month at Lotte Concert Hall.
Park Hyesang plans to perform "The Cruel Moment" from Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, "Just That Song" from Rossini's The Barber of Seville, "If You Do Not Pity Me" from Handel's Cesare, among others. She will also sing art songs such as "Leaning on Time" and "Like the Wind Going to Meet the Lotus."
Park Hyesang is recognized as a next-generation diva with her coloratura soprano's dazzling technique, extensive repertoire, outstanding acting and expressive skills, as well as her elegant appearance.
Park Hyesang graduated from Seoul National University and The Juilliard School in New York. She rose to stardom by winning second place at the Operalia Competition hosted by Pl?cido Domingo in 2015. In 2016, she performed a duet with Domingo during his visit to Korea and was invited as a guest to the Domingo Young Artist Concert, performing on the stage of the LA Opera House. She also placed 5th in the 2014 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition and 2nd in the 2015 Montreal International Music Competition, where she received the Audience Award.

Last year, Park Hyesang received acclaim for her leading role as Rosina in The Barber of Seville at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival in the UK. In the 2020?2021 season, she was preparing for her debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera (MET), a dream stage for all vocalists, but the performance was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19. She was scheduled to debut in leading roles as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the MET. Earlier this year, she received praise for her performance in the world premiere of The Seven Deaths of Maria Callas in Munich, Germany.
