Woo Sang-ho "How is the North Korean Killed Official the Regime's Responsibility?"
"Is It Right to Fight to Blame the Moon Jae-in Administration's Mistakes?"
Woo Sang-ho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, is questioning Sang-hyuk Han, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, during the audit of the Korea Communications Commission by the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 8th.

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 8th, Woo Sang-ho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the case of Mr. Lee (47), a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official who was shot by North Korean soldiers last month in the waters near Yeonpyeong Island in the West Sea, saying, "How is it the administration's responsibility whether he drifted away, defected to the North, or was killed there?"
On the same day, Woo appeared on TBS Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' and said, "It is regrettable that we could not rescue our citizen floating in the vast ocean, but honestly, even if the administration were different, could they have rescued Mr. Lee?"
He added, "How do you pinpoint the coordinates of a citizen floating at sea?" and said, "I sympathize with the sorrow of the family, but at least those of us serving as lawmakers should seriously examine whether this was truly a problem that could have been solved if we were in power, and handle the issue with cold rationality."
He continued, "It is good to unanimously condemn North Korea and think about how to prevent such incidents from recurring, but it is not right to constantly try to politicize the issue," adding, "I was also a lawmaker during the Park Wang-ja shooting incident, and at that time, we condemned North Korea and supported the administration with one voice."
The Park Wang-ja incident refers to the case in July 2008 when a South Korean citizen named Park, who was visiting Mount Kumgang for tourism, was shot and killed by a North Korean soldier while taking a walk. Woo said, "Did we fight over 'Where was former President Lee Myung-bak?' or 'Why couldn't we rescue our innocent citizen?' back then?" He added, "Seeing the opposition constantly politicize diplomatic and security issues, it seems they have no intention of taking power next."

Woo also stated, "The administration must take responsibility for what happened," but questioned, "Why do they keep focusing on political strife to make our administration look worse instead of first condemning North Korea? Is it really right to keep fighting to blame the Moon Jae-in administration no matter what?"
