Jeong Cheong-rae, on the failure of the 'Resolution Condemning North Korea': "People Power Party, This Is Why You're Called 국민의짐"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] On the 28th, Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the People Power Party, saying "Enough is enough," after the failure to adopt a 'Resolution Condemning North Korea' regarding the incident in which a South Korean public official was killed by gunfire from North Korean soldiers.
In a post on his Facebook on the same day, Rep. Jeong said, "Unbelievable things often happen in the National Assembly," and questioned, "What kind of mindset is it to refuse, making various excuses, even the proposal for both ruling and opposition parties to unanimously condemn the public official’s shooting death, which has outraged the entire nation?"
Earlier, the ruling and opposition parties discussed jointly adopting a 'Resolution Condemning North Korea' concerning the killing of the public official, but failed to reach an agreement. It is reported that the parties showed differences in opinion over the phrase 'the body was burned.'
Regarding this, Rep. Jeong pointed out, "If the People Power Party calculated that adopting the resolution condemning North Korea would weaken the momentum of one-person protests in front of the Blue House and harm their position at the Chuseok dinner table, then you are truly bad people who are cynically playing political games with precious lives."
