NHN Collaborates with Seoul National University to Build AI Smart Factory for Pharmaceutical and Bio Industries
Support for IT Technologies such as Cloud-based AI and Big Data
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] NHN announced on the 25th that it has signed a business agreement with Seoul National University to establish and operate an artificial intelligence (AI) smart factory in the pharmaceutical and bio sectors.
This agreement was prepared with the goal of joint development for training pharmaceutical and bio professionals at Seoul National University Siheung Campus and promoting industry-academia cooperation to revitalize the industrial complex.
Seoul National University Siheung Campus is pursuing the attraction of the "Korean NIBRT Program Operation - Bio Process Workforce Training Center Construction Project," jointly promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Modeled after Ireland's National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), the Korean NIBRT is an educational institution aimed at responding to the global pharmaceutical and bio industry environment and training professionals necessary for the expansion of the biopharmaceutical field and market.
NHN will cooperate in building the AI smart factory for the bio process center promoted by Seoul National University, data collection, and establishing strategies to advance bio manufacturing innovation. It will support advanced IT technologies such as AI and big data based on NHN's integrated cloud service "TOAST."

NHN and Seoul National University plan to form and operate policy councils by project and institution to efficiently promote related businesses such as AI smart factory construction. Kim Dong-hoon, Executive Director of NHN Cloud Business Group, said, "We will lead manufacturing innovation in the bio field by providing AI smart factory construction and operation, related data collection, and cutting-edge analysis environments necessary in the pharmaceutical and bio industries."
