Missing Temporary Worker’s Body Found After 16 Days in Chuncheon Uiamho Lake
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] One temporary worker affiliated with Chuncheon City Hall, who had been missing following the boat capsizing accident on Uiam Lake in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province on the 6th of this month, was found dead on the 21st. It has been 16 days since the accident occurred.
The Fire Agency announced that at around 10:40 a.m. on the same day, a body presumed to be the missing person was found about 1 km upstream of Cheongpyeong Dam in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province. This location is approximately 35 km away from the accident site.
A civilian enjoying water leisure activities nearby discovered the body and reported it, and the Special Response Team of the Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters recovered the body. At around 1:19 p.m., it was confirmed to be Hwang Mo (57), a temporary worker. Hwang was on the Chuncheon City Hall environmental monitoring boat at the time of the accident.
Earlier, at 11:04 a.m. on the 6th, three vessels?a private rubber boat engaged in artificial aquatic plant island support reinforcement work, the City Hall environmental monitoring boat, and a police boat?capsized about 500 meters upstream of Uiam Dam in Seomyeon, Chuncheon City.
