This measure follows the administrative order mandating COVID-19 testing for visitors to churches and rallies in the metropolitan area. It aims to enforce the submission of participant lists from uncooperative leaders to quickly identify attendees and utilize the information for epidemiological investigations.
Accordingly, the administrative order targets leaders responsible in Busan City and each autonomous district and county, who must submit the participant lists by 6 p.m. on the 20th.
Failure to comply with the administrative order, such as refusing to submit the list, will result in penalties under Article 79 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act, including imprisonment for up to two years or fines up to 20 million KRW.
Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, stated, “Rapid identification of participant lists is the top priority to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Leaders of the Gwanghwamun rally who have not submitted their lists must do so within the deadline.”
He also said, “Citizens who visited Sarang Jeil Church and attended the Gwanghwamun rally should promptly get tested regardless of symptoms.”
