Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to 'Digitize Big Data' of Facility Safety Information
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 12th that it will launch a project to database (DB) safety information of facilities such as bridges, tunnels, and buildings in collaboration with the Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation.
This DB project involves selecting important information such as cracks and concrete strength from safety inspection reports submitted in PDF booklet form to the Integrated Facility Information Management System and inputting it into the system.
The Ministry explained that due to the worsening aging of facilities and the frequent occurrence of abnormal weather such as heavy rain and heat waves, more scientific and systematic facility maintenance is required to ensure facility safety, which led to the launch of this DB project.
The Ministry rebuilt the Integrated Facility Information Management System last year to enable the databasing of facility safety information, and this year has started the project to input safety information of facilities into the system.
