The new portal allows sharing information on new technologies both inside and outside the company, proposing ideas, and engaging in topic-based discussions.
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 28th that it opened M.FIELDs earlier this month to implement employees' ideas related to new technologies and new business in future cars. ‘M.FIELDs’ signifies an innovation space where solutions are found through employees' voluntary ideas.
The portal consists of three main areas: the Idea Field, Knowledge Field, and Communication Field. First, the Idea Field is a bulletin board for idea proposals. To encourage employee participation, it was designed so that clicking on images, similar to an online shopping site, allows users to check the main contents of proposed ideas, and duplicate idea searches are also possible. Currently, nearly 900 ideas have been posted in the Idea Field.
The Knowledge Field provides a one-stop service for technology and trend information to help employees come up with new ideas. A database has been built to enable integrated searches of internal and external technical materials such as market trends, academic conferences, and exhibitions.
Lastly, the Communication Field is a space for free discussions about proposed ideas. Online discussion rooms are opened by topic so that employees from various departments can share opinions and develop ideas into concrete solutions.
Hyundai Mobis’s idea portal is open to employees from all departments, including research and development, planning, sales, production, and logistics. This allows relevant information and opinions from each field’s personnel to be referenced even outside official business meetings.
Previously, since May last year, Hyundai Mobis has operated an idea proposal board where employees can freely suggest ideas arising from work or daily experiences and have them adopted as actual R&D projects. Through this, ideas such as the ‘Ultrasonic Vibration Lens Cleaner’ that automatically cleans rainwater from vehicle rear cameras and the ‘Emergency Lane Secondary Accident Prevention System’ to prevent accidents from roadside parking were selected as the best ideas last year and are currently under review for technological application. The officially opened idea portal is the result of integrated improvements to this idea development process.
