Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Recruiting Participants for 'Architectural Design Talent Development Project' to Support Young Architects
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The government is set to support young architects in various overseas architecture-related activities, including international design competitions.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 26th that it is recruiting participants for the "Architectural Design Talent Development Project," which supports young architects' overseas architecture-related activities.
The Architectural Design Talent Development Project is a program that supports young architects with overseas training expenses to learn advanced design techniques at overseas design offices or research institutions. It has been implemented since last year, and recently recruited participants for overseas training support this year. Starting this year, the program has been diversified to include not only overseas training but also support for various architecture-related activities such as international design competitions and participation in overseas exhibitions.
The application period is from July 31 to September 11. Eligibility includes individuals or teams participating in international architectural design competitions or events. At least one member must meet the criteria of being a young architect who is a third-year or higher student or within 10 years of graduation from a domestic or overseas university (graduate school) architecture-related department, or within 7 years of obtaining an architect license.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to select about 20 teams based on submitted documents such as activity plans and portfolios, evaluating the young architects' capabilities, excellence of the activity program, and activity plans. Depending on the type of activity program, support of up to 20 million KRW per team will be provided. Young architects will receive support for round-trip airfare and training costs, and teams will be reimbursed or receive fixed support for event operation costs such as installation fees and venue rental fees.
The announcement is scheduled for the 30th of this month. Detailed information such as application guidelines can be found on the Talent Development Project website. The Ministry explained that it will carefully monitor the spread of COVID-19 and prudently review the timing of activity commencement and the countries involved to proceed with the project.
