'Original Family Car' Carnival, 4th Generation Model Launches Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Kia Motors will launch the completely redesigned 4th generation Carnival in mid-next month, marking its first full model change in six years. The design of the new Carnival, previously unveiled by Kia, emphasizes grandeur, while the interior features spacious and convenient space.
According to Kia, the interior design concept of the 4th generation Carnival is 'Spatial Talents.' The interior is designed to evoke a spaceship. The driver's seat features a 'Panorama Display' that connects a 12.3-inch cluster and a 12.3-inch navigation screen. In addition to the Krell 12-speaker premium sound system, an 'Ambient Light' that creates a subtle atmosphere from the door handles has been applied to enhance the emotional aspect.
The vehicle size has also increased to secure a more spacious interior. The 4th generation Carnival measures 5155 mm in length, 1995 mm in width, 1740 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3090 mm, which is 40 mm longer in length, 10 mm wider, and 30 mm longer in wheelbase compared to the previous model.
For the 7-seater model, a 'Premium Relaxation Seat' has been applied to the second-row seats. It is explained that with just the push of a button, passengers can be positioned as if floating in a zero-gravity space. This seat reduces fatigue by alleviating pressure concentrated on the hips and waist, providing the most comfortable posture.
Additionally, Kia has improved space utilization by applying an extended center console for second-row passengers in the new Carnival. The storage capacity has increased from 3ℓ to 5.5ℓ, and the console box can be easily pulled out like a drawer from the bottom when needed. The upper part of the storage space can also be used as a table depending on the situation. Furthermore, an air conditioning filter has been added to the rear seat area so that passengers can enjoy fresh air anywhere inside the vehicle.
The exterior design of the 4th generation Carnival also focuses on embodying grandeur. Last month, Kia revealed the exterior of the new Carnival, stating that it was designed based on a strong yet refined harmony inspired by the shapes of unique and grand architectural structures. The front features a radiator grille completed with the motif of a balanced performance by an orchestra conductor, and headlamps shaped to represent beats and rhythms, creating dynamic beauty.
