Representative Project of the 'Green New Deal', 'Public Building Green Remodeling' Applications Now Open
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The public building green remodeling project, part of the government's ambitious 'Green New Deal,' is set to be fully launched.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 12th that it had publicized the application and submission plan for the public building green remodeling project contest on the 10th.
Green remodeling refers to remodeling aimed at improving the energy performance and efficiency of buildings. This public building green remodeling project targets national and public daycare centers, health centers, medical facilities, and other places mainly used by vulnerable groups.
Through the recent third supplementary budget, the government secured a total budget of 227.6 billion KRW for this green remodeling project. The project will support green remodeling costs to improve energy performance and efficiency for about 1,000 national and public daycare centers, health centers, and medical facilities nationwide that are over 15 years old.
Local governments and public institutions wishing to participate in the project can submit their applications through the 'Green Remodeling Contest Submission System' by the 27th. However, since the system is scheduled to open on the 18th, institutions applying before the 17th can submit their applications via email or official documents. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to conduct a second contest if necessary.
For the selected projects, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) Green Remodeling Center will provide various support measures throughout the entire process to ensure smooth project progress, including completion within the year. Seoul city projects and public institution-led projects will receive 50% of the total project cost support, while other projects will receive up to 70%. The support cost ceiling is up to 1.25 million KRW per 3.3㎡ for Seoul city and public institution projects, and up to 1.75 million KRW for other projects. Additional support within a 20% range is possible considering the characteristics of each project.
