[Golf Topic] Woods "Competing in Next Week's Memorial Tournament"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The 'resurrected golf emperor' Tiger Woods (USA, photo) is set to compete in the PGA Tour after about five months.
On the 10th (Korean time), he posted on his social media, "Looking forward to playing in next week's Memorial Tournament (total prize money $9.3 million)" and "I miss competing with other players." The tournament will be held for four days from the 16th at Muirfield Village (par 72) in Dublin, Ohio, USA. This marks his first appearance in five months since the Genesis Invitational in February. The event he played with Phil Mickelson (USA) in May was an exhibition match.

Woods is a strong contender at the Memorial Tournament, hosted by the 'original golf emperor' Jack Nicklaus (USA). He has won the tournament five times: in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2009, and 2012. This year, due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the event will be held without spectators. After this tournament, he is expected to appear at the World Golf Championships (WGC) FedEx St. Jude Invitational at the end of this month, followed by the season's first major, the PGA Championship, in early next month.
