[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, announced on the 9th that he will sell his apartment in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong said on Facebook, "I will put down the heavy burden of not being a single-homeowner," adding, "In order to become a single-homeowner, I will not wait to sell the pre-sale rights and will sell the Uiwang apartment, which has been like family to me. I requested the sale today."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated, "Last year, I tried to resolve the multiple-home ownership by disposing of the pre-sale rights, but due to the resale prohibition regulation, I had announced that I would sell immediately upon moving in," and added, "However, recently, as the issue of multiple-home ownership among public officials arose, as a member of the State Council, I felt deeply sorry to the public."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "I had thought I would return to the Uiwang house after finishing my public service," but added, "Now, I have decided to put down the burden that weighed heavily on my heart."
