According to Namdong-gu, Incheon, an octogenarian identified as Mr. A, who tested positive for COVID-19 on the 12th of this month and was hospitalized at Gachon University Gil Medical Center, passed away on the 15th. Mr. A was reported to have no significant complications or medical history prior to testing positive. He began showing suspected COVID-19 symptoms on the 7th of this month.
Mr. A visited 'Richway,' a health product door-to-door sales company in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, on the 30th of last month and was classified as a contact of a confirmed case. He underwent specimen testing at the Namdong-gu Public Health Center on the 3rd of this month, which returned a negative result. However, ahead of his scheduled release from self-quarantine on the 11th, a second test was conducted, and on the 12th, he tested positive and was transferred to the negative pressure ward at Gachon University Gil Medical Center.
During his self-quarantine period, Mr. A left his residence without permission on the 5th and 8th of this month to visit a hospital, actions that were discovered by quarantine authorities.
