Discussion on 2021 Minimum Wage Begins... First Full Committee Meeting of Minimum Wage Commission on 11th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The first plenary meeting of the Minimum Wage Commission to discuss next year's minimum wage level will be held on the 11th.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 8th that it has appointed 6 worker representatives as supplementary members out of the 27 members of the 11th Minimum Wage Commission.
This appointment is due to changes in the positions or resignations of existing worker representatives. The remaining 18 public interest and employer representatives, along with 3 worker representatives, will continue their activities without changes.
The newly appointed members will be responsible for deliberation and resolution of the minimum wage for about one year, from their appointment date on June 5, 2020, until May 13, 2021, which is the remaining term of their predecessors.

With the completion of the supplementary member appointments, the Minimum Wage Commission plans to hold a plenary meeting at 3 p.m. on the 11th. They will officially begin deliberations to decide the minimum wage applicable in 2021.
